This will come off as vain to some folks - but I'm okay with that! Because the truth is, I like to feel beautiful. 💖 It's probably my libra moon but I love beauty. I love painting my toenails in the Summer. 💅 It makes me feel...I honestly can't even name the emotion that it makes me feel - but GOOD! I like doing a weekly at home facial. I like brewing teas that support my lymphatic, digestive and endocrine systems. 🫖 I love doing my monthly sauna to support my detox pathways. I like making my rosemary spray to support my hair growth. I like seeing how strength training makes me look stronger. I like to look nice. AND I love adoring myself with art aka jewellery! 💎
And while all this is true, I've also relaxed a lot and embraced my natural looks and my body. I have gotten more comfortable in my skin and leaving the house without makeup, with my hair looking a bit yikes or with my 'home' clothes on. Something younger Emily didn't do.
So this month’s unexpected well-being practice is doing things that make you feel beautiful!
And yes this post may sound like the epitome of all the critiques of the 'wellness' industry. But FOR ME doing things that show myself I take pride in myself (without breaking my bank and as part of an intentional holistic well-being plan) is a BIG act of self-love. And I think self-love is one of the things we collectively struggle with the most.
Today (don’t wait until “tmr…”) I invite you to take a moment and think about what self-love practice you can do today. It could just being intentional when you have a healthy breakfast or get your hydration on that that’s your act of self love. If you need an idea, one of the things I sometimes suggest to my clients is looking yourself in the mirror and saying you love yourself. And then notice what happens. Really give yourself a minute to be truly in the moment and NOTICE. It sounds completely cheesy - but you may be surprised what it stirs in you. Lemme know. 🫶
