Flourish

A six-month community of practice designed to reduce burnout and build trauma-informed, sustainable well-being in healthcare and helping professions.

When your work becomes everything — and there’s
almost nothing left for you.

You’ve been giving so much of yourself for so long — staying late, saying yes, balancing endless responsibilities and caring for everyone else. You keep showing up, even when you’re running on empty.

The boundaries blur. The hours stretch. And somewhere along the way, the work that once felt meaningful now feels heavy. You’re tired of the constant output, of feeling like you can’t step away, of giving from a place that no longer feels full.

You’ve tried to find your footing — resting when you can, reading about resilience, going on a short vacation now and then, doing your best to keep going — but it’s hard to feel inspired when you’re just trying to make it through the day.

You’re not alone. And you're not doing anything wrong. You’ve simply reached the edge of what’s sustainable — and something deeper is asking for your attention.

That’s why I created Flourish.

Because caring for others shouldn’t mean losing yourself.

Flourish is a six-month trauma-informed community of practice created to support healthcare providers and helping professionals who want to reconnect with their purpose, restore their energy and sustain the work they care about — without burning out in the process.

It’s a space to slow down and remember who you are beyond your role. A place where you can learn, reflect and connect with others who understand what it means to give so much of yourself — and are ready to find a new way forward.

Often when we’re faced with burnout, it can feel like the only answer is to leave the job or career entirely. And sometimes that’s true. But it isn’t always the only path. My primary goal in Flourish is to help you explore whether there are adjustments — in pace, boundaries, approach or perspective — that could help you feel excited and fulfilled in your role again, if that’s what you desire.

What makes Flourish unique is its holistic, evidence-based approach to well-being. You’ll learn how to integrate trauma-informed care in ways that not only reduce burnout but also enhance patient outcomes. You’ll be surrounded by a supportive community — peers who become allies and cheerleaders for your growth — as you build practical skills for nervous system collaboration, reflection and sustainable practice.

Every element is designed to make your life and work easier, helping you rediscover motivation, fulfillment and joy both in your career and beyond it.

A community of practice to support who you are now

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about finding a new way to be — one that honours your limits, your nervous sytem, your humanity and the impact of the work you do every day.

Flourish offers a space where healthcare providers and helping professionals — including counsellors and others in caring roles — can reconnect with themselves and their purpose through reflection, practice, education and community.

Each month you’ll receive trauma-informed guidance, evidence-based holistic well-being practices and peer connection designed to help you feel more grounded, clear and engaged — both personally and professionally.

Inside Flourish, you’ll begin to feel…

  • Reconnected — remembering what it feels like to be you - feeling fulfilled, motivated and joyful

  • Rested — learning to collaborate with your nervous system and respond to stress with awareness,                 compassion and action

  • Supported — surrounded by peers who understand your experiences and share your commitment                                      to sustainable care

  • Empowered — deepening trauma-informed care principles to your own life and professional practice with                 confidence

By focusing on community connection, self-awareness and sustainable well-being, Flourish bridges the gap between individual interventions and collective culture change — helping you feel more at home in yourself and in your work.

" I have started new routines in my life. But more than anything I am just really pleased that I am doing something for myself which immediately created good momentum and good vibes. And also kind of a relief for me that I’m actually prioritizing myself for once in my busy life. Before taking Emily’s workshop, I used to think I was a person who didn’t like meditation. But I am sleeping better because I started using the meditation app you recommended. I started yoga. I really just started thinking about the different aspects of my life that could help to balance my quadrants like Emily taught me. I still have things to do, but I think this workshop has helped me start new habits, new routines and generally things that are new for me."

This part of the call will be tailored to the group's specific interests.

1:1 Coaching

A brief, focused check-in to offer personalized support and guidance. Participants can use this time to clarify goals, explore challenges or deepen their integration of trauma-informed practices. These sessions provide space for individualized reflection and practical next steps tailored to each participant’s needs.

“I was first connected with Emily a few years ago when I was struggling and had found myself in a dark cloud. Emily was able to combine her professional tarot readings with her extremely genuine active-listening consulting work to help me. Emily has such calming and empathetic energy and an inviting presence. I really felt heard, seen and gracefully guided towards a path of finding my light. I would recommend Emily to any of my close family and friends if they found themselves in need of a holistic educator who truly cares."

Meet Emily

Educator + Facilitator + Coach

I’m Emily Gibson (she/her) — a trauma-informed practice and well-being educator with a Master’s in Education in trauma-informed practice and a deep commitment to supporting people on their healing journeys.

After spending 8 years running a life-skills and suicide prevention program to remote Indigenous communities across Turtle Island, I experienced burnout. Through healing my own burnout, I became passionate about helping others find sustainable ways to care for themselves while continuing the work they love.

My work brings together evidence-based science, holistic well-being and reflective practice — helping healthcare providers and helping professionals sustain meaningful engagement in their work while caring for their whole selves.

I created Flourish to offer a supportive space for renewal and reflection — a place to reconnect with purpose, integrate trauma-informed care and nurture personal and professional well-being in equal measure.

My approach is practical and compassionate, grounded in lived experience, trauma-informed frameworks and the science of how we heal and grow. I believe true well-being includes the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions of our lives — and that sustainable change begins with how we relate to ourselves.

I find my grounding near the ocean, in nature and in the company of the people I love.

What makes this community unique

Trauma-Informed Foundation

Flourish takes a twofold trauma-informed approach. The content itself is grounded in an understanding of how trauma impacts the mind and body and is delivered in ways that are safe and supportive for participants’ nervous systems. Participants also learn how to apply trauma-informed principles in their own clinical and workplace settings through the monthly group calls.

Whole-Person Focus

Flourish recognizes that well-being is multidimensional — emotional, mental, spiritual and physical — and that sustainable healing means addressing the whole person, not just symptoms of stress or fatigue.

Transformational, Not Transactional

This community is for those ready to make a meaningful investment in their personal and professional well-being. The experience combines accountability, reflection and peer support with a focus on lasting transformation rather than short-term relief.

Empowerment through Personal Discovery

Rather than prescribing solutions, participants are guided to discover what well-being looks and feels like for them. The process centers autonomy, reflection and self-defined growth.

Integrating Polyvagal Theory and Embodied Practice

Each element of Flourish draws from current evidence in neurobiology and polyvagal theory, helping participants collaborate with their nervous systems, build resilience and experience safety in connection — essential for sustainable burnout recovery.

Complementary & Collaborative

This initiative is designed to enhance existing supports within the healthcare system — not replace them. It bridges the gap between individual interventions and collective culture change by creating space for shared reflection, community and practical integration.

Questions + Answers

Is this in-person or virtual?

This community of practice is facilitated virtually. Monthly group calls will take place via Zoom either from noon-1pm PST or 4-5pm PST. Communication and weekly well-being practices will be shared via the WhatsApps group. And the 1:1 coaching calls will be via Zoom or phone - depending on the participant's preference.

Are the well-being practices and trauma-informed care principles based on research?

Yes. Flourish weaves nervous system education, evidence-based well-being practices and well research trauma-informed care principles with lived experience. Research sources and additional reading are always shared with participants who are interested in diving further into the research.

Why would I choose Flourish over over professional or personal development programs?

Because you’ve likely already tried to manage stress and burnout on your own — reading, learning and practicing what you can in the margins of your day — but it’s still not enough.

Flourish offers structured, ongoing support that bridges personal and professional well-being. You’ll be part of a small, facilitated community where your experiences are understood, your insights are valued and you have space to reflect and reconnect without pressure or performance.

Who facilitates this community?

Flourish is facilitated by Emily Gibson, a trauma-informed practice and well-being educator with a Master’s in Education. Emily brings lived experience of healing from burnout and a background in trauma-informed care, polyvagal theory and holistic well-being. Her approach integrates evidence-based frameworks with grounded, compassionate facilitation.

How is this different from counselling or therapy?

Flourish is an educational and reflective space, not a clinical treatment or therapy group. While the content is trauma-informed and supportive, it’s focused on professional growth, self-regulation and peer connection rather than diagnosis or therapy.

What if I cannot attend the live sessions?
All educational portions of the group calls will be recorded for replay access. Reflective and discussion-based segments will not be recorded to maintain participant privacy and psychological safety.

How do I participate?
You’ll join a small group of 10–12 participants for six months of live calls, guided practices and ongoing connection through a private WhatsApp community. The program begins with a Welcome to Well-Being Workshop followed by monthly group calls, short 1:1 check-ins and weekly well-being practices.

How much time can I expect to commit?
Most participants spend about 2 hours per month attending group calls & 1:1 coaching call, completing self-paced practices and connecting in the community space. The intention is to integrate what you learn into your existing routines, not add more to your plate.
