Decolonized Trauma-Informed Practice for Naturopathic Physicians & Healthcare Professionals
A Certificate Course for Naturopathic Physicians & Healthcare Professionals Committed to Trauma-Informed Care
What This Course Is—and Isn’t
Transforming Good Intentions into Safer Interactions
Many patients—especially those who have experienced trauma—struggle to fully engage in care. Without meaning to, even the most well-intentioned naturopathic doctors can contribute to patient distrust, anxiety, dysregulation or disengagement.
This course is about cultivating safety.
Trauma-informed care isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a necessity for ethical, effective, and lasting patient outcomes. This course will give you the tools to create a practice where every patient feels safe, seen, and empowered—without burning yourself out in the process.
You’ll learn how to create environments, interactions, relationships and policies that help patients and staff feel more regulated, connected, and comfortable in their bodies.
When people have a felt sense of safety, they can more fully participate in their healing and their work. That’s what trauma-informed practice is all about: reducing barriers to care, enhancing trust, and supporting nervous system regulation so that your clinical expertise can land in the most effective way.
This course is approved for Continuing Education (CE) credits.

This course is not about diagnosing or treating trauma. You will not be expected—or taught—how to identify, label, or “fix” trauma in your patients. That’s outside the scope of this training.

Why This Course Matters—for Your Patients and Your Practice
Without a foundational understanding of trauma, it's easy to unintentionally trigger or dysregulate your patients—even in routine interactions. And when patients don’t feel safe, they’re less likely to fully engage in care, follow through with treatment plans, or return to your practice.
A trauma-informed approach helps you:
-
Prevent patient drop-off and improve retention by creating an experience of safety and trust
-
Increase adherence to treatment plans by supporting patient nervous system regulation and collaboration
-
Enhance diagnostic accuracy and communication through deeper patient rapport and disclosure
-
Foster a more respectful, inclusive clinical culture for both patients and staff
-
Differentiate your practice as a leader in holistic, ethical, and patient-centered care
